Christopher Bed and Woven Leather Headboard

This platform bed and headboard was for a client's Jackson Hole vacation home. Because he prefers very rustic furniture, I designed this bed with large Box joints on the platform. The White Oak gave me the straight grain I was looking for. I used the Japenese "Shou Sugi Ban" method for burning lumber, and then wire-brushed out all of the soft grain, giving the boards a very smooth polish. The headboard frame is assembled with saddle joints, and was woven with strips cut from large hides that had brands and scars.
