This Queen bed was designed for a client who wanted an "Italian-Modern platform bed with an oversized headboard". The open-lattice border—influenced by Scottish Arts & Crafts Movement designer Charles Rennie McIntosh—was used to break the visual heaviness of the piece. This also allowed the lighting from behind to define the detail of the border in the darkened room.

The large headboard panel is inlaid with a sheet of distressed metal, also inlaid at the corners and at the base of the lighted pedestal.
